Alternative Dispute Resolution
General information about alternative dispute resolution. The specific competent entity must be confirmed for each case and the company’s formal details.
Use the index to navigate. Material changes are identified by the date and version above.
What ADR means
Alternative dispute resolution lets consumers seek mediation, conciliation or arbitration through authorised bodies outside court, without removing available judicial remedies.
Scope
This information concerns consumer disputes. Business-to-business relationships may fall outside consumer ADR and should be assessed under the contract and applicable law.
Selecting an entity
Competence depends on location, sector, value and dispute. Consult the official Portuguese Consumer Directorate list and confirm the entity’s criteria before filing.
Company status
A specific ADR entity associated with the company still requires documentary confirmation. Until then, no centre is presented as binding or competent for every case.
European ODR platform
The former European Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued in 2025, so this page does not link to a service that no longer accepts complaints.
Courts and mandatory rights
ADR information does not restrict access to the courts or mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.
